Santa made his traditional appearance at Carols in the Park, but he wasn't the only giver of gifts on the evening. It's also traditional for Castlemaine Rotary to announce grants to community organisations during Carols, and 2023 was no exception.
We've had a bumper year, so there was plenty to share around. Read on for the list of community grants.
Anyone in the community can make a donation to a humanitarian cause or disaster response through the highly-trusted Rotary Foundation.
The Rotary Foundation has been awarded the highest possible ranking (4 stars) by Charity Navigator (USA). 91% of funds go direct to awards and operations. Rotarians on the ground provide crucial support to make sure that the projects are delivered in the most practical and effective way to meet needs. See more . . .
That's a wrap for our Rotary year with Carols in the Park for 2023 successfully completed on 15 December.
A bumper crowd — thanks yet again Castlemaine! — and perfect weather made for a wonderful evening. See the picture gallery on our Facebook page.
Huge thanks to Director Scott Buchanan, compere Derek Guille, sound tech Calum McClure, the Pride Choir, Thompson's Foundry Band, Santa and all of our artists. Thanks also to Maine FM who broadcast the event live, The Lions BBQ, The SES and Mount Alexander Shire Council for their support.

Castlemaine Rotary President Kerry Anderson and Mt Alexander Community Enterprise (MtACE) Acting President Robyn Lewis recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations.
The aim is to work collaboratively to strategically create positive impact for our community through the distribution of funds. A cheque for $10,000 was presented to Castlemaine Rotary and the Castlemaine Billy Cart Challenge also received $1,000. MtACE is is a voluntary not-for-profit group fundraising for local projects, funded through the Bendigo Bank and Bendigo Telco. Everyone who uses these services and asks to link their accounts with Mt ACE, at NO cost to customers, will help raise funds for our community.
Castlemaine Rotary’s Immediate Past President Grant Thomas and current President Kerry Anderson will serve on MtACE’s Board. With the sad loss recently of Larry O’Toole, who was a major driver of this initiative, Kerry has taken on the role of Chair.
