Rotary Club Night. This week Castlemaine Rotary will have some very special guests for our Club night. This will be our opportunity to acknowledge the high committment and hard work that MtACE Committee members have put in over the years. And to thank them. An important meeting that will be expressing our involvement in the community and our appreciation of MtACE and all the great outcomes they have acheived.

This Wednesday as our speaker we have Nikki Medwell, Director and hard worker for Red Box Wildlife Shelter. The Shelter that Nikki, and Scott Medwell, has established for kangaroos is so comprehensive and amazing you will have to come and hear all about it as it is beyond my ability to put it into a short paragraph. 

Assisting the White Suffork Elite Sheep Show with maitaining the cleaning of the parade/judging arena.

Required times. Friday 12th September 8am - 6pm & Saturday13th 8am - 2.30pm

We provided volunteers for this event last year. Club will receive a $500 donation.

Heard the question "What is happening at the Old Castlemaine Goal??" .... now come this Wednesday and hear the answer! This is a presentation that Castlemaine Rotary & Global Village Learning has been keen to bring to the meeting. Hoping many members will come and enjoy hearing about the transformation and regeneration.

This week Castlemaine Rotary Fellowship evening will be at The Cumberland. We do need to know numbers so a table can be reserved for the group. This is a lovely opportunity for members to enjoy some Fun and Friendship together. Food options will be your own choice from the bistro menu and everyone is most welcome to bring along partners.

Welcome to October. This week's Rotary meeting is our Club Night and we have Director John Clue presenting to the Club. It may be all about Foundation, which, thank goodness, John is passionate about. It will be motivating and encouraging ... we may all be putting on the walking shoes (hint). Come and support the Club and Directors on Club Night and enjoy the passion and knowledge to be shared.

Rotarians, partners & interested friends gather at 9:30AM on the corner of Odgers & McManus Rds, Barkers Creek for a pleasant stroll on a circular track through the State Forest.

~ Parking available at Graham Jennings' property on the corner.

~ After the walk drive the short distance down McManus Rd to the Cordy residence for morning tea.

~ $20 donation

~ Mimosa, coffee, tea & scones/cake/sandwiches etc. provided.

This week we have Tehree Gordon OAM, Owner and Director of Jirrahlinga Dingo Conservation and Wildlife Education Centre. The sanctuary is located deep in the bush of Chewton in the Diggings National Park. Tahree has her own amazing story as well as the story of Jirrahlinga. 

Long awaited and eagerly anticipated ! This evening starts with a tour of the Castlemaine Cemetery with volunteer Alison.

We meet at the Sexton's Office Cemetery Road Campbells Creek at 5pm. Then after the tour we make our way to the 5 Flags Hotel for the meal - we have tables reserved. Join us for the tour and the meal and fun.

BBQ proved to assist with open day for public to celebrate 150 years of operations. Basic menu, sausages only to be sold.

What do goats, counselling and productivity have in common? Well the answer is closer to home than you might think! Three local participants in the Startup Central Victoria Pre-Accelerator program will join us to share their startup vision.

Wednesday 29th October is the Annual General Meeting for our club. Attendance will show support and give acknowlegement to all the work and rewards achieved over the Presidential year for Terry Murphy and the Board of Directors. The process of summarising the activities, finances and outcomes will fill you with pride. We also need your vote !

Good evening, sorry about the late notice.. just had some change of plans. This week Castlemaine Rotary will be delighted to have KLFM presenter Graeme Clarke (also Rotarian) and Red Cross volunteer Mandy Grinblat (or someone just as pleasant and knowledgeable) - to present their part of 'behind the scenes' of community emergencies. As we have now, a month to go before the Summer months arrive please come to this meeting to hear about two of the services that are preparing to help us, if we need, particularly in the case of fire or flood.

Come and enjoy the presentation from Lindsay Callaway, owner of Warral Maldon. He is fifth generation beekeeper and been in the business for over 27years. Warral Maldon is run by an experienced team of dedicated staff in Maldon, Victoria, where 2,600+ hives produce over 150 tonnes of honey and 2,000kg of beeswax each year.!

WOW the year is flying ! Lets gather and have some fun. This week Castlemaine Rotary are gathering at The Taproom aka Shedshaker Brewing Company. We have been before and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Please RSVP so we can reserve the number of places needed.

Our final opportunity to touch base and finalise arrangements before the Truck Show. Important for key volunteers to be available so that any wrinkles can be ironed out.

It is also our official visit from DG Peter Shepheard. Peter and PDG Michael Lapina visited the Truck Show last year, so Peter understands the magnitude of our endeavours. It's also his best opportunity to combine visits to a couple of further-flung clubs — Castlemaine and Rochester — and while the immediate proximity to Truck Show arrangements is not perfectly ideal, we call on members to take the opportunity to meet Peter and help him get to know our club a little better. 

300 or more gleaming, glistening trucks parked around the oval at Campbells Creek Recreation Reserve! Live music throughout the weekend! Food, drink and entertainment for the whole family! Children <16 free.

This is not some quaint regional version of a proper truck show, but one that truck show lovers should get to at least once. Our Truck of the Show for the last TWO years was recently awarded Best of the Best at the Brisbane Truck Show, competing against winning trucks from shows all across Australia.

Informal debrief on the weekend's Truck Show. What worked? What could be improved? What do we avoid for the future?

We will use our normal meeting room, but order meals from the hotel's menu.

Castlemaine Rotary are celebrating Christmas and End Of Year in Traditional style. The Cumberland Hotel meal will be both Roast Turkey & Lamb with Roast Vegetables and trimmings with a choice of either Pavlova or Pudding for dessert. The set meal cost is $27 per person. Drinks at own cost. Wonderful opportunity to come together and celebrate with family and friends. Please fill in the extra details for your guests when you RSVP.

Hi All Michael Annear, head of infrastructure at Council has just asked if Rotary can do. BBQ tomorrow to start feeding at 11am so set up at 10am outside Town Hall. They are opening a recovery Centre for displaced residents and the 12 agencies that are helping with the fires. I said we will do it but is that ok? For about 300 people is best guess. I'm available to help. Any feedback?

To Honour and Remember - we will raise a toast in tribute to Rotarian and friend Phillip Hay RIP

Rotarian John and Heather Clue are opening their hearts and home to allow us to come together next Wednesday (see address and cost details below). Food, tables, chairs, plates & cutlery will be supplied just BYO drinks and a glass per person. We will have EFTPOS access for paying the catering costs and allowing people to contribute to the fundraising if they wish. 

Menu will be BBQ lamb (with vegetarian options), boiled chats with salads and for dessert will be cakes and fruits. And the traditional Tea/Coffee afterwards.!

Please come, bring your partner/family, past members most welcome - it is a time to come together.

Annual event supporting the Australia Day celebrations. 

President Trevor has invited Michael Annear Director of Infrastructure and Development to speak at this meeting on Wednesday regarding the Harcourt Community Stage. This will be a big process for the Castlemaine Rotary Club. Please come and be part of this important opportunity and project.

Next week, Wednesday 4th February, Sage Siebler will be Castlemaine Rotary's guest and will talk about the most recent RYLA camp.

These are always memorable evenings. Be great to see everyone there.

Continuing the Youth theme, once again our club sponsored Year 10-11 students to attend the National Youth Science Forum. AJ Moon and Nate Loosmore will be telling us about their 9-day NYSF experience at the Australian National University, Canberra.

Brevity is the soul of wit. Rotary FFF for 18th Feb was booked for New China. That has been postponed. We are booked for Five Flags Hotel. All invited.
